Features of The ISS
When most consumers are considering the purchase of an Inground Storm Shelter, they are taking a conscious effort in providing the safest environment possible for their family. For many, purchasing a Storm Shelter is an investment into their families safety for many years to come.
The extremely durable polymer (LLDPE) construction of the Inground Storm Shelter can provide a useful life span that under most conditions should exceed 300 years! Unlike concrete and fiberglass, the Polyethylene construction won't deteriorate, alleviating concerns that apply to other materials. Concrete Storm shelters tend to settle and form cracks throughout the unit. With fiberglass shelters, moisture is a problem causing the unit to crack, deteriorate and/or possibly rot. Unlike Steel units, the Inground Storm Shelter will not rust or corrode. The extremely thick 1/2" double wall construction, offers not only the extreme strength of a rotationally molded product, but offers a wall thickness combination that exceeds most single wall units.
In an emergency getting to a safe place is the always the first step. Entering the ISS is easy because of several unique features. First, a gas assisted shock on the door makes opening and closing a simple task. A molded three step ladder with moving handrails make getting in and out fast. Once inside a three point locking system secures the aluminum door protecting you from danger.
The I.S.S. comfortably holds 3-5 Adults. As you can see 4 "very good sized" guys fit comfortably with ample room to fit another person!
Being inside a Storm shelter is not ideal, though in an emergency it is preferred to most structures. It is advised to keep a safety kit containing items you may need in an emergency in or near your ISS. Molded circular seating and carpet add a little comfort during a troubling time. More importaintly, a cell phone signal, where available can be received from inside the Storm shelter or a gps enabled distress signal.
